SLR digital camera is a full-frame DSLR camera that had equipped with an image sensor of the same size with a 35mm movie frame (36 x 24 mm). The term "full-frame" is used to distinguish it from other DSLR cameras with a smaller sensor size, such as APS-C.
Majority of digital cameras on the market today (both SLR and compact) using image sensors smaller than 35mm. The reason is simple: because it is cheaper and easier to produce. It is said that the cost of production to make a full-frame sensor can achieve a two-fold cost of producing APS-C sensor. Their large size also makes full-frame sensor is more vulnerable to contaminants during the manufacturing process, so that the treatment aka treatment in the production process is much more complex.
Full-frame DSLR camera offers a number of advantages over non-camera full-frame. The main advantages are better outcomes for use in wide-angle photography, architectural photography for instance.
Another advantage is its ability to produce better image quality in high-contrast conditions and poor lighting. This is possible because a larger sensor can provide a wider dynamic range and less noise at high ISO levels.
Although it has many advantages, full-frame DSLR camera lost in the affairs of shooting tele (telephoto) by camera non-full-frame camera. More tiny sensor size on non full frame DSLR camera produces a smaller angle of view, but on the other hand benefit increases telephoto effect on the lens used. For example, a regular DSLR camera (non-full-frame) with a 1.5 crop factor and use 200 mm lens, will have the same telephoto capability with full-frame DSLR camera is equipped with a 300 mm lens (which is actually more expensive). Such effects make DSLR camera non-full-frame may be a good option if the use of the camera more to the needs of long distance shooting (at outdoor sporting events or wildlife photography).
Camera manufacturers such as Canon and Nikon marketing focus full-frame DSLR camera for professionals. So do not be surprised if the price and the features offered was much more "wow" from DSLR cameras for the consumer segment (market outside the 'pro'). Nikon brings together production cameras full frame her as the FX format, and a camera with a smaller sensor DX format.
